Diesel Sports Cars
First place
Vauxhall Astra GTC 68.9 mpg
The Vauxhall Astra GTC looks great, it's very economical, and it's even practical, but it would benefit from a quieter diesel engine.
Second place
BMW 1 Series Coupe 118d ES 62.8 mpg
The BMW 1 Series Coupe combines strong performance and low CO2 emissions thanks to BMW’s brilliant EfficientDynamics technology.

Volkswagen Scirocco 62.8 mpg
The Scirocco has always been efficient but with the adoption of BlueMotion Technology it is now even better.
Third place

Audi TT Coupe 2.0 TDI quattro 53.3 mpg
The diesel TT combines the style and substance of the petrol version with a useful reduction in CO2 emissions.
Petrol Sports Cars
First place
Lotus Elise 1.6 46.0 mpg
Lotus has got away with very few updates for the Elise. The latest introduces a new Toyota derived 1.6-litre engine which dramatically reduces fuel consumption.
Second place

Caterham 1.4 Classic 40.9 mpg
The Caterham is the definitive fun machine. It’s the perfect weekend car, amazingly, complemented by excellent fuel consumption.
Third place

Mazda MX-5 1.8i 39.8 mpg
The MX-5 remains a beautifully balanced car. This is good news as it enables the Mazda to maintain class-leading fuel economy and its fine handling.
Toyota GT-86/Subaru BRZ 39.8 mpg
If Green-Car-Guide got to design a car it would probably be a lightweight, affordable, front engined, rear-wheel drive coupé with a characterful and fuel efficient engine.
Also Consider:
Honda CR-Z 56.5 mpg
The CR-Z is the first sporty hybrid and the only current generation hybrid with a manual gearbox.
Eco Cars
Electric Sports Cars
The Tesla Roadster is the only electric car that can currently make it into the sports car section of this guide.
