Green Motion Vehicle Rental Opens for Business

Europe’s first fully environmentally friendly vehicle rental company has opened for business. The concept of Green Motion Vehicle Rental is to provide corporate and private customers the opportunity to hire the latest vehicles, both cars and vans, with low CO2 emissions and fuel saving technologies.

Green Motion has supply arrangements with some of the leading motor manufacturers who are developing ‘green’ vehicles. These include Volkswagen who are supplying Polo, Golf and Passat Bluemotion, Toyota and Honda with their hybrid models – Prius and Civic, Stop and Start models from Citroen – C1, C2, C3 and C4 and luxury hybrids from Lexus including the GS and RX with their LS model joining the fleet in 2008.

Green Motion’s objective is to ensure that over 70% of its fleet falls within the band B grouping in terms of CO2 emissions less than 120g/km. With the Polo Bluemotion there is even a supermini class vehicle with a CO2 rating falling in band A, ie under 100g/km.

At both its head office and network, Green Motion has adopted an environmental policy to reduce its overall impact in terms of CO2 emissions.

The company’s European network is being developed utilising a franchise strategy with its first UK franchise in Oxford being purchased by the husband and wife team of Max and Emma Jacobs. Green Motion is opening further franchised locations throughout the United Kingdom including several within London, with European franchise territories going on sale in 2008.
