    Smart car wins the Cannonball Run

    Amazingly, a five-year-old, second-hand smart fortwo recently beat a huge collection of supercars in the Cannonball Run, the 3,000-mile dash across Europe that’s inspired by the famous 80’s film starring Burt Reynolds.
    Formula One World Champion, Damon Hill, will be driving the Tesla Roadster, the first electric sportscar to go on sale in Europe, in the GreenFleet Capital Arrive ‘N’ Drive 08 event, which will start on London’s Horse Guards Parade on 31 July, 2008.
    The British International Motor Show opens to the public this week on 23 July. Green-Car-Guide will be covering everything you need to know with a special feature, however in the meantime here’s a preview of some of the green cars on show.
    The future of greener motoring will be on display at The British International Motor Show at ExCeL London, 23 July to 3 August, alongside demonstrations of how drivers can cut vehicle emissions and lower running costs.
    A money-saving survey, the chance to drive a CO2 emissions-reducing simulator and a close-up look at the innovative Panda Aria concept car are some of the exciting features lined up for a Fiat interactive environment event in London this month.

    Green-Car-Guide Live! 2008, sponsored by Masternaut Three X, will take place on Thursday 12th June 2008 at the new award-winning Arena & Convention Centre in Liverpool, and is set to be the UK’s largest Green Motor Show.
    Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is set to exhibit a prototype of its gas-powered Caddy EcoFuel at Green-Car-Guide Live! 2008, a one-day-only Green Motor Show in Liverpool on 12th June showcasing the latest energy efficient vehicles.
    If you want to see green cars in the metal, never has there been a better chance. Green-Car-Guide is running its own Green Car Show on the 12 June in Liverpool, and the Eden Project is running its Co-operative Insurance Sexy Green Car Show for the second year, from 23-31 May, at the home of the world’s biggest plant Biomes, near St Austell in Cornwall.
    This week the price of oil was predicted by OPEC to continue increasing and reach $200 a barrel, meaning that the cost of petrol and diesel at the pumps is set to keep on rising.
