    Europcar, the UK’s leading vehicle rental company, has conducted its own Economy Run. The run produced some interesting results, not least that smaller cars don’t always mean better fuel efficiency.
    Miles per gallon figures for vans are very rarely quoted, so it’s interesting to see that a Volkswagen Transporter achieved 52.48 mpg in the ALD Automotive TOTAL Excellium MPG Marathon 2008 - and it was half loaded.
    A Toyota Yaris 1.4 D-4D achieved 84.66 mpg, the highest figure attained out of all the 39 vehicles which took part in the 400-mile 2008 ALD Fleet World MPG Marathon.

    Small cars deliver big savings

    Small car owners lost the least amount of money in terms of depreciation in 2006, according to the latest research from Parker’s Car Guides. Nine out of the top 10 cars that saved their owners the most cash in over a year of ownership were small hatchbacks.
